Our 2026 Spring Production....
Don't get your vicars in a twist

Another show bites the dust! And what a show it was....

Don't get your vicars in a twist. Written by Ann Gawthorpe and Lesley Bown. Produced and directed by Simon Mathews, ably assisted by members of The Bovey Tracey Players. Thank you to all those who supported us - we hope you enjoyed. See you at the next one!

What's new!

In April 2026, The Bovey Tracey Players staged 'Don't get your vicars in a twist' written by Ann Gawthorpe and Lesley Bown, and directed by Simon Mathews. Later this year (31st October 2026), Mark Godwin is directing and producing our second murder mystery for the Probus group in the Phoenix Hall in Bovey Tracey. Though this is a private event, there is a possibility that the murder mystery may also be 'staged' in the Paradiso and in Lustleigh village hall - two further opportunities to enjoy a fine evening's entertainment and see The Bovey Tracey Players at their very best!  Should you be interested in being part of the murder mystery group, use the contact form further down the page and mark the message "FAO Mark Godwin'.

The Bovey Tracey Players are proud to present 'The 39 steps', a thrilling stage adaptation of John Buchan's classic adventure. The Bovey Tracey Players, a community theatre group since 1971, offers a unique experience to Bovey Tracey residents with various performances, including plays and murder mysteries. Our group was founded by a team of dedicated individuals who share a common love for the arts. We are based in Bovey Tracey, South Devon and host a variety of events year-round, always welcoming new members to join in the fun.

Our productions are staged in Bovey Tracey and its surroundings, generally in April and October. There's a lot of work done before they're ready as you can see! These pictures are taken from a performance of several short plays and a radio play staged in September 2025 at the Whisky Distillery, Bovey Tracey.

As you know by now, 2025 has been an 'annus horribilis' for the Players. We lost the Dolphin - it's still not re-opened - and finding a venue to do anything has been an uphill struggle. Our sincere thanks to Greg Millar at the Whisky Distillery for allowing us to stage 'Of Pints and Plays' - a collection of short plays and a radio play that we presented for one night only, Wednesday 24th September 2025.

We are particularly grateful to Benthan Pendlebury who interrupted a busy country-wide schedule to host the event. (see inset top right)
